Giving real-time control over card transactions
DARE gives the power to block or allow card transactions based on retailer, location, value, and more — in real time.

What is DARE
The Delegated Authorisation Rules Engine, is an easily configurable rules engine that evaluates every transaction with enriched merchant data, so you control each transaction in real time.
Powerful
Complex rules are applied in real-time at point-of-sale. Want to block a purchase if it’s not made at a petrol station? Done, instantly
Bespoke
Configurable to a wide array of highly targeted use cases, thanks to DARE’s broad range of customizable rules and conditions
Simple to Use
No developers required – allows your team to set up highly complex schemes for you in minutes - with no limits on scale
How it works
Every transaction is enriched with detailed merchant and location data, allowing rules to be defined using :
- Street address
- Latitude and longitude
- Chain name & ID
- Store's Unique Identifier
- POS Terminal ID
- Merchant Category
- Merchant name
- Purchase Amount
- Transaction Count
- Purchase Time
- Purchase Date
- Purchase Currency
- Merchant Country
- Merchant Region
- Merchant City
- Merchant Postal Code
Multiple conditions and multiple rules can be combined, giving full control over almost every aspect of the transaction
Campaign Rules
Each card is added to a specific campaign allowing rules to be defined for groups of cards.
Individual Card Rules
Create rules for individual cards, providing fine‑grained control per card.

Providing tools for Agentic AI Workflows
The DARE solution includes a standardized interface (MCP) for leading AI models like Gemini and Claude to access a suite of powerful tools and data while always keeping a "human-in-the-loop" approval process, ensuring sensitive actions are never executed without explicit user consent.
Key Features and Benefits
- Intelligent Card Control: Users can now manage their cards by simply asking their AI assistant. The server exposes tools for creating new virtual cards, checking balances, reviewing transaction history, and searching for merchants.
- Enhanced Security with Human Approval: The solution introduces a unique pre-authorization flow. When an AI agent recommends a transaction, a push notification is sent to the user's phone for real-time approval, giving them complete control over their funds. This protects against unauthorized use and AI hallucinations.
Pre‑Approved Transactions
Allow specific transactions on specific cards to be pre‑approved. For example:
- Purchase from Coles in Fitzroy
- Max $80
- Today before Midnight
- On Nick’s card

New Use Cases Enabled
- The "Pocket Money Card": A parent can create a locked-down virtual card for their child's pocket money. They can then use their AI assistant to pre-authorize a specific purchase, like a new toy from a particular store, for a set amount, and for a defined period. The child’s card would only be usable for that one transaction, and the parent would have to approve the purchase first.
- Delegated Business Purchases: A business agent can create a temporary card for a customer, pre-authorizing a specific purchase. The agent can then be provided with the card details, allowing them to complete the transaction on the customer's behalf, all with the cardholder's explicit, real-time approval.
- Autonomous Financial Assistants: DARE lays the groundwork for fully autonomous financial agents that can proactively manage a user's spending. For example, a user could ask their AI assistant to "find the best deal on flights to Sydney and buy them for me if they are under $500," with the transaction only proceeding after a final approval push notification.
Use Cases
DARE’s rule engine is already being used in market — explore a few examples:

Why Leave Town Gift Cards?
Why Leave Town uses DARE to build it's array of regional gift cards.
When a customer purchases a Why Leave Town gift card, the holder can buy goods in any participating store in that community. Our cards cannot be used outside of the participating shops. This means that every time one of our cards is purchased, the money stays ‘local’. The gift cards can be used more than once, across multiple stores, and are the perfect gift for those ‘hard-to- buy-for’ friends and family members..

Create Shopping Center Cards
To increase foot-traffic, a Melbourne-based shopping center gave away promotional cards that were locked down to its retailers. This was enforced using geolocation rules and set up in minutes through the DARE portal. The campaign has increased in-store purchases — attracting new customers, boosting tenant sales, and increasing dwell time across the shopping center

Branded Franchise Cards
A retail alcohol franchise in Victoria used DARE to create rewards cards, that were limited to their own stores only
